Did a little flipping through the TV channels just now, and they seem to mostly be talking about the Super Bowl. Would've thought they would've waited until tomorrow for at least some of that, but I really am out of touch with mainstream society these days. Can't seem to find any Four Continents coverage either, though at least I've been able to watch a couple of the woman's medalists on YouTube.
Maybe I really should just stick to a final weekend's worth of Legend of Vox Machina watch parties instead. But I've found I feel the opposite way about this season than I did about the last one. First season, I thought the show really got good in the final episode. Second season, it was good throughout, except that I kind of felt like the whole Umbrasyl fight suffered a little from fatigue, especially once they reached his lair. It felt repetitive of the fights we've had on the show already, I didn't really buy Vax's whole attitude about fate, and while it's good to have Scanlan put Mythcarver to more use than he did originally, his suddenly appearing and killing Umbrasyl with one stab after everyone else's efforts had apparently failed to do any damage that hadn't healed felt kind of ridiculous.
The rest of the last three episodes were a bit better, particularly the fight with Kevdak, where one got more of a feeling of Vox Machina winning the fight together and all of the vestiges being worth the struggle it took to get them. And Raishan showing up as Keeper Yennen! It was a common theory among fans that the season was going to end with her showing up in Whitestone, but the way they did it still caught you up.
Not to mention that now we can spend the next year looking forward to exactly how the third season will start (how will those who haven't seen the stream react to Keyleth finally losing her temper?), while really having no idea what the hell will happen after that. We still don't even know where Vorugal is currently spending the majority of his time, which will probably be the most interesting question of the season's first half.
Or when Percy may yet declare that life needs things to live. I've seen some disappointment that didn't show up where in did in the stream, but that's the kind of line that can probably be moved anywhere...
