My promotion is now official; the paperwork got to me this morning. I am a GS-11, title for now unchanged; there's a bit of a mess related to the job description to sort out, from what I understand. There was also announcing and officially recognizing slipped into someone else's farewell breakfast yesterday, which felt awkward enough I was glad for it being short. Meanwhile, it looks like we might be close to hiring a replacement or two for everyone's that's left recently(which means I have to take care of making them accounts and probably managing their hardware).
Got my iPad to accept new material transferred to it via iTunes for the first time since Sunday, which is relieving. When things would not transfer Monday I was seriously wondering if I'd have to take it into the store. But it keeps crashing out of apps, and I am getting worried that might even be a problem Apple refuses to fix; I'm pretty sure they don't expect people to still use iPads as old as ours are. Instead, the thing mom and I will definitely do on Sunday is get an umbrella. We've lost a few, and finally gave up completely on trying to make the broken one work this morning, when I left it on the stoop in a vain attempt to catch the first bus, some scavenger later made off with it, and then they returned it to our stoop later, probably because even they couldn't make use of it!
